After going out and signing Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett in the offseason, the Boston Celtics could have very easily just sat back and watched the wins pile up. While that was a great plan initially and the Celtics certainly have basically run the Eastern Conference all year, in the last couple of weeks, the teams that were already strong in the Western Conference were making huge moves in bettering themselves for the playoff run.
That being said, Boston decided to stop resting on their laurels and signed P.J. Brown, who hasn't played all year and last played for the Chicago Bulls in the 2006-07 season. In his fifteenth year, he's definitely not more than likely to have a ton of spring in his step, but at 6-11 and always being a fierce rebounder, Brown gives the Celtics an experienced inside presence for their own playoff run.
Boston also had to be thinking that with KG's recent injury issue and the fact that Allen has had a history of bad ankles and is no spring chicken himself, that having an insurance policy like Brown was definitely needed.
