AI and Melo combine for 68 in win

nuggetsclips.jpg

No one ever doubted that the teaming of Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony wasn't going to provide some big numbers offensively. What the big question dealt with was whether there would be enough shots to go around. While they have both had their ups and downs, in a tight win over the Los Angeles Clippers, Iverson and Anthony combined for 68 of the Denver Nugget's 110 points.

So, I guess the answer is yes? Well, for this game at least. Iverson's clutch shooting in the final minutes and Anthony's rebound putback sealed the game for the Nuggets, who stand at 35-23 and gained a game on the Utah Jazz in the Northwest division, as they lost a close game to the New Orleans Hornets. In the playoff race, they are on the outside looking in right now, but only trail the 8th place Golden State Warriors by a half game.

When asked about the final minutes, Iverson claimed that he wasn't looking to take over (yeah right). But it's clear that these two superstars are definitively the ones who will make or break the Nuggets' chance of postseason play, and with the Western Conference being so good, they will have to continue to have nights like this in order to stay alive.
