Arenas return delayed

gilbertarenas.jpg

As we all know, Gilbert Arenas likes to talk--ALOT. For a while now he's been discussing a March 2 return to the Washington Wizards from a nasty knee injury that caused him to have surgery in November. While Arenas has worked diligently rehabbing the knee, he has yet to have workouts with his team. This is awful news for a team that has also had another floor leader in Caron Butler out for 11 of the last 13 games--and even his return is up in the air.

When questioned about another timetable for when he thought he'd be ready, Arenas declined to make a prediction, only that he continues to get it stronger and work on his cardio. Not that you can really put too much onto Arenas for making this type of bold prediction--knee injuries have always been tricky, and they can also be the most damaging if you return too soon, so being precautious is the way to go no matter what, in my opinion.

The Wizards have felt the full effects of both of their stars being out of action, losing 10 of their last 11. It may be time to call it a season and focus on next year. Oh wait--they are 26-29 and still in the thick of the playoff race (ya gotta love the Eastern conference). Nevermind--hurry back, Gilbert!!
