Blazers Simply Blazin'

przybilla.jpgWhen the NBA schedule was released, NBA and TV execs drooled over the idea of having a Christmas day matchup between the number 1 and number 2 draft picks in Greg Oden and Kevin Durant. Of course, that never happened, and the biggest drama around the Seattle Supersonics has been their more-than-likely move to Oklahoma. But there was a bigger story after the game was over: 11 in a row. Who would have thought it?? Seriously.

Ok--don't answer that. You probably thought there may have been 11 in a row--losses, that is. But again, riding the performances of Brandon Roy and Jarrett Jack, the Blazers coasted to a 10 point win over the Sonics, and also got 16 boards from Joel Przybilla (pictured). Although the game overall was not pretty technically (both teams shot worse than 39% from the field and 71% from the charity stripe), it was evident that the Blazers now have the look of a winner.

So, Western Conference, there's another kid on the block trying to take their place. Last year it was the upstart Jazz making a deep run. Will it be the Portland Trail Blazers this year?
