Bosh forced to leave US FIBA Team

Chris Bosh, the Raptors All-Star, won't be suiting up for the US National Team at the FIBA Americas Tournament next week. Evidently, a nagging foot injury has been bothering him, so instead of forcing it, he's going to let some healing occur.

Even though he won't be playing, he will still be eligible for a spot on the team if the US qualifies. He has plantar fasciitis, a non-threatening but aggravating foot injury that necessitates rest and consistent stretching to heal efficiently.

This is great news for Raptors fans, because if not treated correctly, it's one of those nagging injuries that can continue to cause problems, and I'd much rather Bosh sit out an offseason event than what his main goal should be--assisting the Raptors in the 2007-08 season. Even though some will argue that playing for a national team is the ultimate "goal", let's face it--the Americans still have 15 players that are still excellent--while Bosh's absence will hurt a little, his own personal situation could have more ramifications than the team losing him.
