Brrrr! The Heat is NOT on

What in the h-e-double-toothpicks is going on with Miami? Perennially a force in the East, especially with getting Shaq several years ago, the Heat look like a playground team. Think it's because Dwyane Wade has only played half of the games thus far? Look a little bit further--sure, Wade is a great player, but he's got a supporting cast that is formidable as well--so then what is the deal?

First off, they just can't score. Averaging a paltry 88 points a game, the team is hitting only 43% of their shots, and their giving the ball up to the tune of almost 14 turnovers a game. But when you look at the point distribution, you've got Wade, Shaq, and--Ricky Davis? The guard play has been horrible--Jason Williams has never been known as a great shooter, but 34% from the field and 26% from the three is killing his team. Wait--maybe not--Smush Parker is as equal in the blame as Williams, and is shooting 31% and 25% respectively (or actually--disrespectfully).

The Heat must continue their defensive staunchness and either make some drastic improvements from their backcourt, or they risk being at the cellar of their division for a long while. Think Pat Riley is in the market for a guard? You can bet on it. Look for the team to make some dramatic moves in the next month if Wade can't suddenly revive the team, and with the way Williams and Parker have been weighing down the team, the anticipation of a surge by the Heat is very unlikely.
