Calderon: Raptors will bond overseas

Ok, so coach Sam Mitchell was not happy about having training camp in Europe. Not only can it be a distraction, it can be something where the culture and the time change alone could wreak havoc upon making the team that much better technically.

However, as guard Jose Calderon has pointed out, it could make them better in another way--chemistry. There are three games to be played in Europe after they will hold camp in Italy. As Calderon hinted at, when they have preseason at home, it means seeing each other for practices and the games--afterwards, though, it's literally every man for himself--now they will have meals and other social events the entire time--which should give them another level of trust.

Not to say that they weren't a close-knit team before, but it can't hurt to continue to learn and appreciate each other not only as players but also as individuals. And while coach Mitchell is concerned about the fatigue factor, the front office as ensured that the team has at least five days after they return from Europe before their next game. This is a great opportunity and should do nothing but help the Raptors reach the next level.
