C-Webb calls permanent timeout

WebberRetire_300x250B.jpg

Chris Webber played 15 years in the NBA, putting up very good numbers along the way: career stats of 20.7 points per game, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. I say "played" because today C-Webb decided to hang up the sneakers, retiring as a Golden State Warrior, the team that he started with, and remarkably, with the same coach.

Webber had signed on as a role player with the Warriors this year, but he only played in 9 games and averaged only 4 points a game. It was apparent that his time on the court was drawing to a close, and while he provided good mentoring for the young players, Webber decided to go ahead and call it quits. While the move is a bit curious considering the Warriors are going to the playoffs in less than a month, it may have just been time.

Webber grew up in Detroit and played college ball for the University of Michigan, where he was part of the revolutionary "Fab Five". Unfortunately, his most memorable time in college was during the national championship game where he called a timeout late in the game when the team didn't have one, resulting in a technical foul and loss for the Wolverines. Well, Chris, you've called a permanent timeout now, and we're sad to see you go. I would bet you may see him back as a coach somewhere...sometime.
