The Miami Heat's team symbol is a basketball that seems to be on fire going through what appears to be a rim. However, when you look at this season, the rim is more likely to be viewed as a toilet seat, or you could symbolize the basketball and its direction in the picture being metaphorically a team going down in flames. Ok, so enough of the interpretation--let's get to what we need to discuss today. An article on Fox Sports.com discussed which team is the biggest train wreck, and I have to go on record that my vote is for Miami (like that was some revelation).
Sure, the T-Wolves are plain bad. But no one expected them to even get close to the playoffs. The Knicks are just plain yucky. But again, while they had a good draft, with Isiah Thomas at the helm, he could have his Airness himself playing alongside Shaq in his prime and he'd find some way to take the team down. But the Heat--they weren't supposed to be this bad. Sure, Mr. O'Neal himself is starting to move about as fast as Robert Parrish did in his later years, or maybe even now, and there have been some injury issues with Dwyane Wade, but come on--8-27? With one of the best coaches of all-time on the sidelines? It doesn't make sense.
There's no answer as to the team's collapse. They don't play in a terrific division overall. They have players who should be able to get the job done. They just don't. It's like one of those mysteries that defies logic, like how that baby came out with eight arms, or how Hillary Clinton may be President of the United States. In any case, while you can't completely write off the entire season, the Heat may want to think about getting some value out of some of their middle tier players and then get some draft picks...now.
It's just sad what things have become in Southern Florida. Who woulda thunk it?
