Dunleavy going bye bye?

dunleavy.jpg

To be able to coach the Los Angeles Clippers takes a man's man, much like coaching the Memphis Grizzlies is as well. To coach them for 4 years is just...welll..suicide. But for a coach like Mike Dunleavy Sr., it's just another coaching job.

But is it? The Clippers have long been a cellar dweller and underachievers at best. But over the past few years, they have actually gone out and gotten some talent and positioned themselves to shed this reputation. But still---injuries have depleted this talent and wasted a lot of money in the process. It also has not helped that this year the owner of the team, Donald Sterling, has voiced his displeasure with the performance of the team, despite the awful injuries they have had.

Dunleavy deserves more. He's been able to keep them at least competitive, which is more than the Knicks or the T-Wolves or the Sonics can say. And for Sterling to suddenly make efforts to get players like Kobe Bryant but fail shouldn't be on Dunleavy. He's a class act and "The Donald West" would be making a grave decision by letting him go.

But will Dunleavy stay? Perhaps he should just go and find someone who will appreciate him and stop being "the apprentice".
