Ok, so it's not THAT dramatic. Elton Brand, he of 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season for the Clippers, has had his cast removed from his left leg and was fitted for a removable walking boot Tuesday, six weeks after he had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles' tendon.
The next step for brand is to go to a physical rehabilitation program for local therapy, cardiovascular work and a flexibility and strengthening program. Brand was injured Aug. 3 during his daily workout in nearby El Segundo, and Morgan performed the surgery four days later. Brand was examined and had his cast removed at the hospital in Wilmington.
This is good news for Clips fans who had feared that he may not heal very fast and would therefore damage the entire team's chemistry due to him being one of the team leaders, and every day without him on the court would be a negative impact on the fledgling franchise. While this type of injury is one to handle with kid gloves, Brand seems to be on an excellent timetable for the beginning of the season.
