For Whom the Bell Tolls: Heat Happy

Charlie Bell, one of the more sought after free agents this offseason, has signed an offer sheet with the Miami Heat. This is such a coup that according to sources, it could "make" the Heat's offseason a success on his signing alone.

Wow.

First and foremost, Bell not only sets up well as the primary backup at shooting guard to Dwyane Wade, but Bell could be closing games alongside Wade because of his defensive tenacity -- sort of a Damon Jones who can play both ends of the court. This also takes some pressure off of first round draft pick Daequan Cook, who can develop more instead of being asked to be a huge role player from the get.

Will Bell be used as a PG option? Possibly yes, but with having Smush Parker now, the Heat will more than likely use him more as a SG threat than anything else. He could be used to spot it from time to time, but this is not what the Heat had in mind with getting this jack of all trades.
