Gordon make NBA Leap

egordon23.jpeg

Eric Gordon had all of the hype as he entered into the world of college basketball. One of the more sought after guards in Indiana, he had first verbally committed to Illinois and then when the Indiana Hoosiers hired Kelvin Sampson, Gordon was wooed away to the Hoosiers. He was great throughout most of the year, and he averaged over 20 points a game when it was all said and done. And today he announced that he was taking his game to the NBA.

What I didn't mention above was what Gordon did for the past month or so of the year--which was basically suck as bad as most "below average" players did. In fact, he was painful to watch--and this was put to the fact that Sampson used way too many minutes on his cell phone *snicker* and resigned under fire. Gordon then suddenly turned from a phenom into an 18-year old that was really trying too hard every time he was on the court.

He flailed around and the Hoosiers meekly exited in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. But still--he is going to be lacing up next year in the NBA. The question is--which player will show up? Will it be the slashing, confident player who lit up the scoreboards for the first half of the season--or will it be the lost, lethargic, almost selfish basketball player who looked like a shell of himself. If there's one thing that NBA scouts don't like, it is inconsistency. And while Gordon will be drafted--top 10--I don't personally think he's ready--I think he should stay one more year--especially with this year's crop. 365 more days and Gordon would be a much better player, more mature, and be able to bank more--in my opinion. But--I guess we'll see, won't we?
