Grizzlies looking happy now that Gasol back in the post

Ankle sprains are a tricky thing. For Pau Gasol, it's not only been a tricky thing, it's been pure magic hell. But--voila--presto chango--and Gasol has been practicing with the Memphis Grizzlies and has declared himself ready for the opener.

Gasol, who hadn't practiced or played since he suffered the injury Oct. 17, said sitting out to start the season was never an option. And even so---Gasol kind of "needs" to play anyways against the Spurs because he put himself out there--in a big way. Gasol purchased 500 tickets to give away to fans tonight at the team's pep rally at a local mall. Basically--the first 250 fans to arrive will receive a free pair of tickets--courtesy of Gasol. For him to not play would be a travesty.

The seven footer is starting his 7th NBA season--and has always been a Grizzlie. Memphis head coach Marc Iavaroni has been more than pleased with Gasol's leadership and was impressed Monday with his first contact workout since the injury. Bottom line--having him back has everyone smiling in Memphis--now the question is, can he keep them smiling with some W's?
