Alright, we all knew Tracy McGrady has got "skeels to pay da beels". But he's always suffered the "underachiever" role in never really getting a team anywhere. So when T-Mac exploded for 47 points against the Utah Jazz, one has to wonder--is this the same McGrady?
The Jazz, who knocked out the Rockets from last year's playoffs in a minor upset, were anticipating that the Rockets may have had a little chip on their shoulder and were out for revenge. McGrady was, and seemed to take it personally with his 42nd career 40-point game. He also had more help than he did in the postseason, when the Rockets basically counted on he and Yao Ming to beat the Jazz.(Which obviously they didn't)
While McGrady will probably never slip into Kobe mode (please help us all), be like Gilbert Arenas, or even Allen Iverson when was with the Sixers, this is not so much because of McGrady--but mostly because of the fact that Houston does have more weapons and will count on them from time to time. But you can be for sure that he is definitely playing with more gusto than ever--and that could spell trouble for the Western conference.
