Howard lifts Magic to 1st game win

dwight-howard-.jpg

The Orlando Magic last won a playoff game in 2003. That's a mighty long time for a franchise to not get a "W" in the postseason. Sure, there's teams that would love to even say that, but the fact is--Orlando has always been a proud organization and so when they had a great year in 2007, the next step was to have a bigger year in 2008--and that's just what happened. So even though they got their first win in five years over the Toronto Raptors, they aren't celebrating--it's being regarded as just handling their business.

Dwight Howard was still in high school when they last won, but that doesn't matter any longer. After dominating the Raptors with 25 points and 22 rebounds, the Magic are looking good and playing even better after beating up Toronto by 14 in game 1. Jameer Nelson added 24 points in the victory.

The even more surprising thing about it was that the Raptors had a very good game--good balance, anyways, with Anthony Parker scoring 24, Chris Bosh 21, Rasho Nesterovic 16, and Jason Kapono 18 off the bench. But it still wasn't enough to stop Superman Howard--and if he keeps up like this, it could be a quick trip home for Toronto.
