Humble Carroll to sign long term deal with Bobcats

So many times we see the flash, the "bling" of the NBA players, their swagger, and the preceding attitude that they carry on and off the court. We get the "pleasure" of seeing Kobe Bryant rant and whine, Ron Artest brawl and just do what he wants, Yi Jianlian not want to sign with a team because of its demographic representation of his descent, and the list goes on and on and on.

With all of these things in mind, it's impressive to see a humble player like Matt Carroll get some press for signing a six year contract with the Charlotte Bobcats. Carroll, from Notre Dame, had been cut by 3 NBA team before catching on with Charlotte, much in part due to averaging 20 points a game in the D league. After he joined the Bobcats, he went on to average 12 points a game and lit it up from down town. While some teams showed interest in his free agency, Charlotte was the only team to offer the maximum contract time of six years.

While Carroll may have some of his PT diminished with the Bobcats' addition of Jason Richardson, it's clear to see that this guy doesn't give up, and he will help the team as much as he can. It's so nice to see a player like this continue to make it in such a world of "sharks".
