Bobby Jackson was traded to the Houston Rockets a few days ago. The book on Jackson is that he not only provides veteran experience, but has been a big time spark off the bench for several teams. In his first game with the team, he did more than that--scoring 14 and leading Houston to its 12th straight win over the new-look Chicago Bulls.
With the win, the Rockets now stand 2 games in back of first place in their division--and the irony is, although it is such a slim margin of 2 games, they actually trail more teams than games back--3. The Spurs, Hornets, and Mavericks all are ahead of Houston--for now.
The Bulls, however, seem to be headed down a different path. Although they started the year in a terrible fashion, they have improved--but still stand at 22-33 and currently out of the last position by 2 games. With newbies Drew Gooden and Larry Hughes having a good game as well, perhaps they can start a big streak into the playoffs--but one thing is for sure--Houston has made its way into the championship race and they aren't going anywhere.
