James breaks Cavs scoring record--NBA record next?

380 games. 10,414 points. And 1 team scoring record. In just that short of time, Lebron James has broken the Cleveland Cavaliers' scoring record--and he's just 23 years old. James, who grew up in in nearby Akron, has played his entire career for the Cavs, and he has turned the city on its ear with hope of an NBA championship, something that has not occurred in over 40 years.

And the thing is--this is just one step in what will probably end up as the biggest crown of them all--the NBA scoring title. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points in 20 seasons. With a career 27.4 scoring average, which is actually kind of skewed considering his rookie year he "only" averaged 20.9 points, it is not unreal to think that James should play probably 12 more years.

With that in mind, if he plays on the conservative side--say 75 games a year--that's 900 games. If, again, on the conservative side, he averages 25 points a game, that would mean that's 22,500 additional points, putting him at 33,000. The reality is, with playoff games, he will probably play an average of 78-80 games and will more than likely average at least what he is doing now--let's say 28 a game. That puts it just short of 27000, and therefore that would put him right at that title doorstep.

It could happen--and it will.
