Johnson leads Hawks towards promised land

derek-anderson-gerald-wallace-and-joe-johnson-all-in-air-jordans-shoes.jpg Joe Johnson was playing like a man on fire--dropping 34 points on the New York Knicks isn't exactly conquering the world, but there was no way he was going to let the Atlanta Hawks lose in this tight playoff race. The Hawks, who have three games remaining, have a magic number of 2 over the Indiana Pacers.

The Hawks ended up sweeping the Knicks over the 4 games they played this year (again, not a surprise). The Knicks must win one of their last three to avoid setting the club record for losses in a season (if they go 1-2 they will be 23-59). Sadly, this team record was just set two years ago--the Knicks franchise is just in total disarray (not a surprise once more).

Atlanta plays host to big, bad Boston tonight and the Pacers play Charlotte. The combination of the Hawks wnning and Indiana losing will clinch a playoff seed against--you got it--against Boston. It definitely isn't exactly the type of scenario any one wants, but hey--to be the best you have to beat the best, right?
