Marion missing from Suns Mix--is he wanting out?

Everybody seems to be jumping on the preseason bandwagon as far as the players go for the Phoenix Suns. Even Boris Diaw, who was playing in Eurobasket 2007, is on his way into camp. It seems that everything should all roses and lollipops, right?

Nope.

Shawn Marion, aka "The Matrix", is nowhere to be seen. Not like he's been the "rah rah" team player ever--he normally is one of the last to show up. But with such a striking difference in team camaraderie this season to start, his absence is even more distinct. Why? By all accounts, Marion is not wearing the grin seen in his furniture-store commercials, but that's hearsay, because Marion and his agent have not returned a call.

But according to several Suns sources, Marion seems to be unhappy that the team will not talk about a contract extension. The word is that the four-time All-Star, in his eighth year with the team, wants $60 million over three years. Marion, already the highest-paid Suns player, will make $16.4 million this season and $17.8 million for 2008-09.

If this goes on any longer, the Suns should be looking to deal this crybaby to someone who will put up with his obvious me-first attitude. The highest paid player on a team with a two-time MVP? Come on.
