NBA Coaching Rumors: Donovan, Donovan, oh..and Donovan

Of course, this time of year always brings out the best and worst in rumors, in both college and pro hoops. As the NCAA championship has been decided, there's so many rumors surrounding Billy Donovan's alleged trip towards the NBA that many coaches in college hoops should feel slighted--at best.

Where will he go? To the Bobcats? Grizzlies? Heat? Hornets? Will he just take over as NBA Commissioner? Ok, that one has not been mentioned--yet--but it's just as plausible as his jaunt towards the pros.

To think that even the best college coach can sweep an NBA team off its feet and be successful is a pipe dream. Just ask John Calipari, or Rick Pitino, or Lon Kruger. They learned the hard way that even the guy at the end of the bench that has a perennial "DNP" next to his name has more clout than the guy calling every play and also accountable for everything the team does. Rumors are rumors, but Donovan would be a fool to leave his dynasty he is starting in Florida, regardless if UF is always going to be a football school, and he will tarnish his name by trying to take over an NBA team--again, just ask those names above. It took them quite a while to climb back from the politics and entirely different world the NBA offers.

Stick to the NCAA, Billy. Not that you couldn't do it, but why would you?
