NBA Draft Live Blog: First Round Picks 26-30

10:10: ESPN puts up a promo for their coverage of the WNBA. Thanks but no thanks.

10:11: With the 26th pick the Rockets select Aaron Brooks. I would like Aaron Brooks if he weren't kind of a midget by NBA standards. He's only about an inch taller than me and that's not that tall. It's kind of a curious pick for the Rockets since they just traded for Mike James. I would think they would be looking at a front court player, but I guess I was wrong. The Pistons are now back on the clock. NO MCROBERTS!!!!

10:14: Andy Katz says that the Bucks are putting a hard sell on Yi to show up on Friday to the Bucks post draft presser. This could be the first of many problems between Yi and the Bucks. I'm guessing that at some point Yi may end up being traded if this stuff continues.

10:18: Am I the only one who gets annoyed when the clock is down and the guys just keep talking and they hold off the pick? It's annoying as hell to me...

10:19: With the 27th pick the Pistons select Arron Afflalo. Hmmmm. I'm kinda surprised they went with another guard here. I wonder if this means they may be shopping Rip a bit for some front court help. I do like Afflalo both on offense and defense. He's another good fit for the Pistons. VERY happy with the draft thus far.

10:25: With the 28th pick the Spurs select Tiago Splitter. There's a surprise. The Spurs take a foreign player. Good pick here because they don't need him right away so he can stay in Spain for another year.

10:29: The Suns are up now and Ian says, "What are the odds they take a foreign player?" Agreed.

10:30: With the 28th pick the Suns select Alando Tucker. On cue Dickie V chimes in to say how great Tucker is. Having watched him all year (I'm a Michigan man so I watch a lot of Big Ten ball) I can't say I was really that impressed with his NBA prospects. He is with the Suns though so it could be a great fit. We shall see.

10:37: And with the last pick of the first round (30th) the Sixers select Petteri Koponen. Apparently the Suns and Sixers swapped picks or something. And with that the first round is over...and JOSH MCROBERTS DIDN'T GET PICKED! WOOO! Lesson to you kids. If you're a marginally good Duke big man you should stay in school instead of leave early and fall to the second round. I'll be back if something big goes down in the next round, but if not enjoy the rest of your evening!
