NBA Draft Preview: Jeff Green

It's been a while since Georgetown had a big man that was a lottery pick. Back in the day, it seemed the Hoyas were a big-man machine, bringing the likes of Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutumbo, and Othella Harrington into the NBA ranks. And now it brings us Jeff Green, a 6-9 baller who has consistently improved his game over 3 years of playing for G-town.

Green offers that little something "extra" that you don't get with a power forward--a good, consistent outside shot. Averaging close to 40% for the year, Green certainly proved that defenses could not sag against his athletic frame and hope to defend the post. He also offers outstanding passing, as evidenced in last year's NCAA run which ended in the Final Four. Among all of the elite big men out there for this year's pool, I'd be willing to say that Green is the best when comes to dishing the rock.

However, question marks remain as to his inside ability--while being 6-9 and weighing almost 240 pounds, he averaged a paltry 6 boards a game. Some will argue that is due to the fact he had to share this responsibility with Roy Hibbert, but GMs have to be concerned that this could be a question of tenacity and toughness on the defensive end.

Still, Green looks to have the prototypical NBA body and the ability to improve upon his entrance. He started somewhat lower in the predictions, but he has now drove his stock to be a 8-12 pick on most mock boards. He's got the potential to be a Chris Bosh type superstar, the question is---who will get that potential?
