The Phoenix Suns just make teams sick. Either they are scoring at will or simply controlling every bit of tempo in the game. But who has been most ill have been the Suns' fans, as although over the past few years they have looked dominant in the regular season, they just can't get the job done in the postseason. Even though they've had two-time defending MVP Steve Nash, the Suns haven't had a sniff of even the finals.
Will this be the year? When you look at Phoenix, their roster reads like a who's-who of NBA stars-Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn "The Matrix" Marion, Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa--I mean, Michael Jordan would have a hard time keeping himself on the floor with this NBA "softball" lineup. They run like no other team and play defense when it counts.
Another year, another playoff appearance by the Lakers--and another team that has no depth besides Kobe Bryant. Sure, Kwame Brown has had a career year and Luke Walton could very well be the NBA's most improved, but the Lakers can't do anything else--and their biggest deficiency is defense, where they give up more than 103 per game. Even having Lamar Odom healthy hasn't helped all that much, and he's one ankle sprain from being out for the year according to history.
Prediction: Kobe may be able to drop 50 in his sleep, but the Suns can post a 120 spot with their bench players. Phoenix in five.
