Jermaine O'Neal may return soon for the Pacers! Yeah!!! Whoo-hoo!!
Hello?
Hello?
Is this thing on?
O'Neal, who has missed 32 games with a bruised knee, participated in a shootaround and could be back very soon. The Pacers, although playing horribly this year overall, are only 2 games out of the playoffs, so getting JO back could boost them tremendously. But--will he really? Let's face it--O'Neal is a prima donna who really is only out for himself, and while this may benefit the team because he does put up good numbers, I have to think that the overall chemistry the team has developed over the past two months--good, bad, or indifferent--is not something that will be positively affected by O'Neal's return.
Mike Dunleavy really will suffer from this, because he has been the team's scorer, and Danny Granger will see less touches for sure. It may end up putting the Pacers into the playoffs, who knows--I could be totally wrong--but even when O'Neal has played over the past two years, it really has never been about the team, it's all about #7. So I guess we'll just see....
