Penny (Hardaway) for your thoughts

So, now the focus has shifted to the "elder statesmen" of the NBA. Yesterday, it was the Celtics trying to woo Reggie Miller. This time, it is the Miami Heat signing Anfernee Hardaway, who has not played an NBA game since 2005.

Hardaway, now reunited with former Orlando Magic mate Shaquille O'Neal, is 36 and will split time between small forward and shooting guard. The Magic have already acquired Smush Parker (love that name) from the Lakers, and are looking to capitalize even more, even though they lost out on the Mo Williams sweepstakes a few weeks ago.

O'Neal, when asked about Hardaway, was very supportive of his former teammate and is looking forward to playing with him. Previously, when O'Neal used to talk about his time with the Magic, he offered less-than-stellar remarks about Hardaway.

Penny for your thoughts? It could be a great move like Grant Hill's resurgence, or it could prove to be a money-drainer, like so many other teams have experienced with Hardaway, who has spent plenty of time on the IR. In any case, with Dwyane Wade's injury from last year still a question mark, Hardaway should provide some needed outside help and be a pivotal role player for the Heat--if he can stay healthy, and that's a big IF.
