Pistons looking like the team to beat

The Bulls thought they were big and bad. Andres Nocioni even stated that he felt they would advance into the next round. The Detroit Pistons probably haven't laughed that hard in a while...

After spanking Chicago for the second time in as many games, the Pistons are not only looking like they are back to form during their Larry Brown glory days, they are looking like the dominant team in the league. The irony is, that of course everyone and their brother felt that a Western team would be at this stage come playoff time; namely Dallas, Phoenix, or the Spurs. All teams have struggled for consistency, and Dallas is watching the rest of the games from the comfort of their mansions.

So, what gives? Tayshaun Prince is a huge reason; the perennial postseason player scored 25 in game two and has provided solid defense. The Pistons also have been taking high percentage shots and locking down Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, and Kirk Hinrich--who didn't make a field goal all of game 2.

One thing is for sure---Detroit continues to play like this, and they will be the next NBA champion. Looking at the Western conference, the only team that I believe can mirror the Pistons all-around game is the Spurs, and while they are up 1-0 on Phoenix, everyone knows the Suns can pull that off in a heartbeat. Stay tuned, hoops fans....
