Portland gets glimpse of post-surgery Oden

And here, in March, I would have thought I would have probably posted at least a handful of times about #1 draft pick Greg Oden--before he went down with a season ending surgery (before his season began). But since his microfracture surgery on his knee, he was able to practice lightly with the Portland Trail Blazers.

While he wasn't going at full speed, he was still able to workout at a decent pace with his teammates, and worked with assistant Maurice Lucas afterwards; he even dunked a few times. Even though he didn't simulate the real "Oden" that players expect to see, teammate Brandon Roy said that his presence alone lifted his team's spirits.

With 17 games left to play and being 7 games out of the last place in the playoffs, the likelihood of the Trail Blazers going on another huge run and making that spot theirs is highly unlikely, but they should be extremely proud of having the year they've had anyways--no one would have dreamed of this team winning 30 games after Oden went down, and not only have they accomplished that, they have a very good shot at finishing over .500, and using that momentum to really have a stellar 2008-2009 season.
