Posey to enter plea on drunken driving charges

James Posey, who last suited up for the Miami Heat, was arrested last April 9 of suspicion of drunk driving in Miami Beach. According to sources, Posey will reach a plea agreement to lessen the charges against him.

The agreement will call for Posey to perform 50 hours of community service and also must complete six months of probation, along with numerous small fines. When Posey was pulled over in April, police noted that he was not stable in terms of standing and that he smelled strongly of alcohol. He refused to take a breathalyzer at the time as well.

It seems that NBA players just can't seem to stay out of trouble. Although Posey is not representing the NBA any longer because he is not officially on a team, people will indeed associate him with the league because of how they know him--and it is yet another chink in the already-weak armor that has taken numerous hits this summer.

Is it so hard for professional athletes to believe they are not above the law--at least anymore?
