Raptors lose long-time favorite Peterson to Hornets

Morris Peterson, who played seven years for the Toronto Raptors, has packed up and left town. He's heading to the Big Easy down in Louisiana, signing a four-year contract with the New Orleans Hornets.

It's a big loss for the Raptors, who have grown considerably while Peterson played there. Although he lost playing time, shots, and overall numbers to the emerging star Chris Bosh, he is still obviously a very good player after just 2 years ago averaging nearly 17 a game.

He brings leadership, experience, and a great attitude under coach Byron Scott to the Hornets. This was the second time the Hornets vied for Peterson, who back in 2004 was signed to a three-year contract by New Orleans, only to have it matched by Toronto. After the Raptors recently signed Maceo Baston, it was clear that the Raptors were looking to move Peterson, and thus end a great era.

Good luck, Mo. We'll miss ya!
