Raptors to miss Bosh for a week

Could the Toronto Raptors have any MORE injury issues?? After having several games with T.J. Ford out and some intermittent issues with Andrea Bargnani, now they have to face at least a week out from their All-Star Chris Bosh, who has a “painful” right knee. The team did a preliminary MRI on Bosh which came back negative, which is a silver lining, if any.

In his place, Rasho Nesterovic scored 16 against the Charlotte Bobcats, but it wasn’t enough as Toronto lost by 12. While Rasho will be able to at least step up a bit, it’s going to be Bargnani’s team in the interim, and he needs to do more than the paltry 6 he posted against the anemic Bobcats. Ford is still on the upswing of his recovery, and while Anthony Parker can certainly do a lot for the team, Bargnani IS and will BE the inside presence the Raptors will need to go forward.

Especially considering that knee injuries are pretty tricky—it’s important that Bosh takes his time getting back, even though they need him. The nice thing is that the teams that are below the Raptors in the standings are also waning considerably (Washington, Philadelphia, and New Jersey). At a worst-case scenario, the Raptors could fall maybe 1 spot, but I don’t see that happening.

Hurry back—but be SURE when you’re ready to play again, Chris, we’ll need you for the playoffs in a HUGE way.
