Rip City is back!!

Who woulda thunk it?

Portland had the number one pick in the NBA draft--and they went with Greg Oden. And then, just like that, the microfracture snap of his leg meant he was out for the season. Ah, such is life. The Blazers would continue to bottom feed for a while, right?

Not so fast my friend.

Riding the hot hand of Brandon Roy and enjoying an eight game winning streak, the Blazers are suddenly over .500. After starting out 5-12, the team was indeed heading towards the anonymity that so many teams face after the first couple of months--now they are suddenly talking playoffs. Those 8 wins in a row haven't exactly been against patsies--we're talking 2 over the Jazz, 1 over the Bucks, and their last game over the Hornets--not too bad at all!!

Why now? While many have always expected Roy to be the leader, no one really thought Travis Outlaw and Martell Webster would come from basically nowhere. Both are averaging in double figures and have been for the most part very consistent. It's this type of depth the Blazers had been looking for--and they've got it.

Rip City is back!!!!
