Ugh.
It seems like every day that goes by brings yet another harried case of an NBA player in trouble someway, somehow. This time, it is Rafer Alston, a guard from the Houston Rockets that was arrested in downtown Houston on charges of assault and public intoxication, both of which are misdemeanors.
Not that it matters--it might as well be high-class felonies the way the NBA is looking these days. The Rockets GM Daryl Morey is "dissapointed that one of his players is involved in police activity", but he just joins a long line of frazzled GMs that can't even attempt to control their players in lieu of negative publicity. In just the last month, we've had 2 players arrested (one for solicitation for sex) and a booming scandal of a shady referee. What is next? (Wait...don't answer that)
Alston has played for the Rockets since 2004, and averaged 13 points a game last year. Details of the incident have not been shared as of yet.
Ugh.
