Seattle does not deserve to lose Sonics

No disrespect to Oklahoma City. This is a town who did wonderful things for the Hornets while New Orleans was down and out due to Hurricane Katrina. They welcomed the NBA franchise with open arms and did a very transparent changeover "holding" onto the team. But this is not about Oklahoma City or the fact that they could be the winner of a "new" franchise.

It's about Seattle. Now that the city's hometown billionaires have thrown their proverbial hats into the ring in terms of backing millions of dollars to help keep the team, the question has to be raised--what is this all about? Because sources have long cried that David Stern's seemingly grudge against Washington since 2005 is a main factor behind this, and it doesn't make much sense to pull out of the 12th largest media marketplace in the country, in the middle of a 300 million dollar bid for a new arena there in Seattle, and the fact that several upheavals of franchises have done little to the bottom line of the NBA (See Vancouver to Memphis).

It's obvious that the Sonics will have another chance to draft a very good player out of the draft, and with superstar in the making Kevin Durant there, the rebuilding could be swift, and it could be a little ways off--but still, this move out of Seattle would be a big mistake; this is a class city and they certainly have all of the tools in place to keep the team there, including the biggest incentive--money.
