Shining Star: Billups happy to stay in Detroit

Amidst all of these bad publicity scandals the NBA has had to endure, a city known for its "Bad Boyz" now has a shining star that has gone public--about his love for the city of Detroit.

Chauncey Billups, who recently signed a contract worth 60 million dollars, has gone on record as saying, "This is the first city and the first organization that has ever really shown me any love. I didn't want to break their hearts." Now, of course the money doesn't hurt, but he has basically gone all out for this team, and he appreciates it. He bounced around his first four years in the league, playing for Toronto, Denver, Orlando and Minnesota, and finally finding a home in Detroit. He could have been bitter, he could have been all about the benjamins. But, as it seems, he cares much more than a buffed-up contract.

In the world of the Allen Iversons, Kevin Garnetts, and Kobe Bryants of the world, who just seemed to be spoiled, spoiled, spoiled, and there is no loyalty to any of the franchises that embraced them for years on end, Billups is an exception that should be noted: yes, there are some "Good" guys out there.

Cheers to you, Chauncey, and continued good fortune in Motown.
