Sloan gets extension--but will this be it?

Coaches in the NBA can sometimes be a dime a dozen. There are a select few that stay the course throughout a long period of time, but there are an even fewer amount of coaches that stay with one team. Jerry Sloan has coached 20 years for the Utah Jazz--and he'll be back for his 21st as he signed a 1-year extension today.

But will this be it?

Sloan's extension being only one year basically should say that Sloan is nearing the end of his road--there would be no reason why he would only get one year after the Jazz made a huge run last year and are looking like the class of their division this year. While Sloan has not brought home a championship ring in his tenure, he has had several amazing teams that ran up against some classic players and teams (Let's just say he probably has a Michael Jordan dartboard somewhere).

Plus, he's made comments like "I take it one year at a time" and "at this stage in my career, I'm too old to be greedy". While during the contract negotiations there have been reports that Sloan seemed insecure about his job, it can't hurt that the whole situation with Andrei Kirilenko has died down and the Jazz are once again playing great ball.
