Stern to meet with Congressman?

Citing that the situation surrounding referee Tim Donaghy may well be the "most damaging in American sports history", Bobby Rush, a congressman from Illinois, has requested a face-to-face meeting with NBA commisioner David Stern.

Come on.

I mean, it's enough that Stern is facing having to answer every question as carefully as possible and maintain the innocence of 99.9% of the NBA, but to have a congressman call him out and basically assume how widespread the issue is, calling more attention to it, etc., is just plain rude and disrespectful to Stern. Sure, many will point out that he is he man in control and therefore should answer for such, but shouldn't that be "after" everything is panned out? Why now, and why the sudden need to do so?

Politics schmolotics. I smell a rat, and that rat is Rush. He doesn't need to meet with Stern, he doesn't need to maintain the "dignity" of the NBA, this is pure political posturing, and he's doing it at Stern's expense. Shame on you, Mr. Rush. Good thing I don't live in Illinois any more, because you certainly wouldn't have my vote.
