Suns hurting with Shaq

shaq.jpg

The run and gun Suns are struggling to adjust to life with the big diesel. The Suns are 3-5 with Shaq in the lineup. It has to make you wonder what Steve Kerr was thinking by adding a slow, aging center to one of the fastest entertaining teams in the league. It is no longer fun watching the Suns as their center appears to struggle to get down court. So they had bad chemistry with Shawn Marion. Imagine the chemistry at the end of the season when the Suns are not able to win a playoff series.

In 29 minutes a game Shaq has averaged 10 point and 3 turnovers. Not exactly the kind of numbers that are going to help them get to the finals. No longer do you need to "Hack a Shaq" because he is simply not a factor anymore. Marion on the other hand has averaged 16 point, 9 rebounds and just 1 turnover per game for the Heat. Its obvious that the Heat got the better end of the deal. If they are able to resign Marion to a long term contract he will be a great addition to the Heat. At the end of the season, with a lottery pick, the Heat have positioned themselves to rebuild. Not having to pay Shaquille's $20 million salary the next two years also helps the Heat.

Sure it was great while it lasted, Dwayne Wade and Shaq dominating opponents. But this new version, Shaq and Nash, is just sad to watch. At the end of the day I'm glad I'm not Steve Kerr. I would hate to have to justify this trade to the loyal fans of Phoenix.
