Welcome to the Desert, Grant!

In Steve Kerr's first big move as a GM, the Phoenix Suns went out and signed oft-injured Grant Hill to a 2 year contract, worth just short of 4 million total. Hill had played seven years for the Magic but oftentimes was seen styling the newest and hippest suit, as he spent a ton of time on the DL.

So, why Phoenix? Well, his agent has said that 15 teams have "courted" Hill, and that he wanted to be in a place where a championship was within a short grasp. While he may not even be guaranteed a starting role, agent Lon Babby has said that was not even looking for one. It's a far cry for a guy who over a decade ago lead the All-star voting for two years running.

Still, Phoenix fans should be very happy with this. They not only get a player who, when healthy, does put up good numbers, but a humble and extremely classy guy overall. His ego will definitely not interfere with any role the Suns choose to give to him, and I am willing to bet that is why Kerr, who also played similar roles even in his championship years with the Bulls, went after Hill in the first place. One of the big questions is though--with Phoenix' run and gun mentality--will Hill and his gimpy ankle be able to keep up?
