The Chicago Bulls have obviously worked on their outside game with keeping vets Ben Gordon, Andres Nocioni, and Kirk Hinrich working the offense. They made the big move a couple of years ago in getting defensive guru Ben Wallace. So now--will they make another big move in getting Elton Brand back?
It is apparent that the Bulls made an awful mistake in letting Brand go to the Clippers, who has averaged over 20 and 10 his entire career and has the playmaking and leadership abilities that the Bulls sometimes lack. Plus, it would give them the perfect inside offensive threat they've been missing--with youngsters Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah being the future, they have some expend ability as well.
Brand is supposed to be a free agent at the end of the year, but should they wait that long? I say no--if they want to compete this year in a revamped Eastern conference against hated rivals the Pistons, the retooled Celtics, and upstart Cavaliers, they certainly need to be thinking NOW.
