Wizards continue impressive season

wizmav.jpg

Any team that can hold the Dallas Mavericks to 84 points is definitely a team to be aware of. And when you beat the Mavs by almost 20 points in doing so, there's even more to take note of going forward. The Washington Wizards, after losing perennial all-star Gilbert Arenas for almost 3 months and center Etan Thomas earlier in the season, were looking pretty bleak at getting back into the playoffs.

However, even without those two notables, the Wizards are now at 22-17. What gives? Well, first of all, it goes to show just how good Caron Butler is. This guy is playing at a Chris Bosh level, getting stats like Dwight Howard, and has kept his team afloat and then some. And then there's veteran Antawn Jamison, who has really stepped up his game in Arenas' absence. The team has also been extremely improved defensively, a natural need after they lost the scoring that Arenas brought to the team as well.

It doesn't help that their division isn't exactly "tough", but to see them beat up on a team as good as the Mavs are and shut them down, make no bones about it--this team is for real.
