Wizards get more bad news

p1_butler.jpg

Well, we all learned that Gilbert Arenas overshot his mouth and his estimated timetable of getting back to playing for the Washington Wizards, and now they have learned something that is as devastating: Caron Butler, who could possibly be the toughest player the Wizards have, will be out indefinitely due to a hip joint tear that has had him on the day-to-day injury report for over a month.

The Wizards have been reeling with both of their stars gone. Even though the Wizards are still in contention for the playoffs and are currently sixth in the eastern conference, the fact is that they have lost 11 of 14 and are struggling to keep their head above water. Even when questioned about Butler’s injury, coach Eddie Jordan gave a snippy “I don’t even want to talk about that” type of response.

I want to be able to think that the Wizards will be able to tough it out, considering the fact that the Eastern conference overall is so weak, but losing two guys as Butler and Arenas is maybe just too much to ask. If Arenas is not back in the next few weeks, you might as well write them off.
